Cub Scouts

The Cub Scout section offers an exciting and challenging programme for eight to ten year olds. Old friends and new friends alike meet every Monday during term time to have fun, play games, go on trips and to start to learn core skills of cooking, tying knots and first-aid. Cub Scouts begin to learn how to look after then themselves, as well as taking part in community service activities.

It is during Cubs that there is the first opportunity for our young people to go camping. And the annual pack holiday to the Scammonden activity centre in Yorkshire is the highlight of the year.

Cub Scouts earn badges for the activities that they take part in, and the challenges that they complete as they work towards the Chief Scout's Silver Award, before moving up to Scouts at the age of ten

11 Chief Scout Silver Awards

Well done to the 11 Cubs who have worked hard to gain the top award in the Cub section

Cubs practice the "Bear" Necce

Last Monday (24/05/10) the Cubs practised firelighting in the woods at Shey Copse. No matches were used, just flint and steels and the sun. Toasted marshmallows were devoured and they went home dirty and smelly! A perfect evening.

World Wide Walk - 8th May 2010

As part of their Global Challenge badge the Cubs participated in the Jamboree on the Trail in which Cubs from all over the world hike around their local areas. 13 Cubs, along with some hardy parents, braved the rain for a trek along the Wey Navigation.

Cubs get Choppy for Chopper

As part of their work to achieve their Community Challenge Badge, the Cubs raised £300 for the Surrey Air Ambulance by completing a sponsored run.The cheque will be presented by the pack to the Air Ambulance representative in June.
